Lindsborg woman named KSN’s Remarkable Women 2025 winner

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – KSN is excited to announce the winner of our 2025 Remarkable Women series, Madison Smith!

Over the past month, KSN has shared stories about women who are making a difference in Kansas, chosen from nominations sent in by viewers:

  • Madison Smith – Trauma, legal battle pushes woman’s passion to help others
  • Jennifer Griffin – Redefining possibilities: Wichita woman embraces new life after losing hands, legs
  • Nancy Bansemer – Retired Kansas nurse dedicates life to helping others
  • Amber Beck – Wichita woman has been working for nonprofits for over 15 years

Smith is a nursing student at Kansas Wesleyan in Salina. In 2018, Smith says what started as consensual sex led to her being raped. She is now on a path to help others reclaim their power.

KSN is making a $1,000 contribution to Jana’s Campaign , a national education and relationship violence prevention organization, on behalf of Smith.

Smith will soon travel to Los Angeles for an all-expenses-paid trip, sponsored by our parent company, Nexstar Media Group, along with 124 other Remarkable Women from across the country. Five regional finalists will each receive an additional $5,000 for a nonprofit of their choice, and one outstanding woman will be honored as “The Nexstar Woman of the Year,” accompanied by a $25,000 donation to a nonprofit close to her heart…
