13,300 tons of salt/sand being removed from Wichita streets

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Wichita is beginning to clean up the mess this past winter left behind.

Over the winter, Wichita experienced several snow and ice events. To clean up the streets, crews used 13,300 tons of salt/sand mix to melt the snow. The previous winter, the city only used 8,445 tons.

The street sweeping started March 24 and will continue throughout the spring. The sand collected off the streets will be used for cover at the Brooks Landfill…
