WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita’s Ethics Board met Thursday to discuss 10 complaints against Mayor Lily Wu revolving around a proclamation last month. The board also met to make a decision in the complaint against Council Member Brandon Johnson from a January altercation in a Topeka bar.
The board found Johnson in violation of one of the four ethics code sections investigated. That being: Be dedicated to the ideals of honor and integrity in all public and personal relationships.

The decision came after the board had taken into consideration videos from that night, multiple testimonies, and interviews conducted with witnesses who were at the bar.
An officer with the board said that while they deem State Representative Ford Carr to be the aggressor in this case and provoke Johnson multiple times, it was Johnson’s responsibility, as an elected official, to de-escalate the situation by removing himself earlier, and by not using choice language…
