Kansas Weather Alert: Thunderstorms and Flood Risk Hit Wichita Area Starting Tuesday Night Through Midweek

Wichita, Kansas – Storms return to South Central Kansas this week with Wichita and surrounding counties facing heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and possible flooding starting Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Wichita, a line of thunderstorms is likely to develop late Tuesday evening and continue through Wednesday. The strongest storms are expected to impact areas east of the Flint Hills, including Sedgwick, Butler, Cowley, and Sumner counties. Rainfall may exceed one inch in spots, increasing the chance for minor flooding, especially near low-lying roads and streams.
