Gunfire reported, two in custody in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police say two people are in custody following a disturbance involving gunfire on Friday in the 1100 block of South Edwards.

The initial call came in about 8 p.m. as a disturbance involving a weapon, prompting a heavy police response. Officers arriving on the scene located a vehicle tied to the incident and identified individuals as victims of a crime. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Police later found suspects at a nearby residence and detained them without incident. Investigators believe the disturbance involved shots fired but emphasized there is no ongoing threat to the public.
