A few storms this afternoon, then dry for fireworks

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says a dry morning in the Wichita metro area will give way to isolated storms between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. but most areas will stay dry. Morning temperatures in the lower 70s will eventually climb into the middle 80s this afternoon.

The main line of storms will move into northwest Kansas after 3 p.m. and then move east arriving in areas like Hays and Dodge City around 9 p.m. The storms won’t arrive in south central Kansas until well after 3 a.m. giving us good conditions for firework displays. While widespread severe weather is not expected, some of the storms will be strong.

Lingering Saturday morning storms will come to a stop, but additional activity is possible, if not likely both Saturday night and Sunday night across Kansas. While a few strong storms are possible, the bigger concern will be heavy rainfall and localized flooding…
