Active weather pattern continues into next week

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Adrian Campa says a strong cold front moved across Kansas last night and with combined cloud cover is allowing for a much cooler weekend by July standards.

A weak upper-level disturbance will bring another chance of showers and storms to south-central Kansas during the evening hours. Heavy rains and gusty winds over 40mph are possible with the strongest storms, but severe weather is not expected. Afternoon highs were in the upper 70s and lower to middle 80s, which is about five to fifteen degrees below normal for this time of year.

While an isolated “popcorn” afternoon storm can’t be ruled out Sunday or Monday, but most, if not all, of the state will remain dry. Another weather system moves in late Tuesday night and may trigger additional showers and storms. The overall weather pattern looks fairly active to end off the week with rain chances carrying over to the following weekend…
