USPS recognizes Wichita mail carrier’s heroic act in emergency

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Wichita mail carrier has been honored with the Postmaster General Hero Award, one of the highest honors a postal worker can receive, for her actions that helped save a woman who was not breathing.

Back in April, Kerry Hurd was finishing her mail delivery when she spotted a mother and child in distress stopped at a light at 1st and Grove. The mother was not breathing.

Hurd used her military background and CPR skills to keep the woman alive until paramedics arrived…
