WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) -Other than a stray storm or two this morning, that pretty much does it for rain chances in the Wichita area for a while, possibly for the rest of the month. The weather story now becomes increasing heat and humidity today and more so this weekend. Afternoon temperatures in the lower 90s will feel like 100 degrees when you factor in the humidity.
The weekend will be even worse as temperatures top out in the upper 90s, and the heat index climbs to 105 degrees. Strenuous outdoor activities should be avoided during the afternoon, and if you must be outside, please stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.
A few storms are possible across far northern Kansas both Saturday and Sunday nights, but most of the state has seen their last drop of rain for 7-10 days. In fact, some forecast models do not bring rain chances back to the Wichita area until August…
