Woman who dragged deputy gets 45 months

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A woman accused of dragging a Sedgwick County Sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop has been sentenced to prison.

Neveah Thompson was in court on Tuesday, where she received a sentence of 45 months in prison. The crime happened back in March in East Wichita.

According to the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, around 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, a deputy pulled Thompson over near Lincoln and Rock Road. During the stop, Thompson told the deputy that there might be an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Before she could be taken into custody, the sheriff’s office says Thompson jumped back into her vehicle in an attempt to flee. The deputy followed her into the vehicle, but according to the sheriff’s office, Thompson managed to shift into drive and speed away, allegedly dragging the deputy with her…
