Memorial boots stolen from son’s gravesite in Douglass

DOUGLASS, Kan. (KSNW) — A sentimental tribute left at the gravesite of Steven Neitzel’s son has gone missing from the Douglass Cemetery in Butler County, prompting a plea for its return.

The cement boots had stood at Shelby Neitzel’s grave for more than 20 years. Steven believes someone took them between July 18 and 27. He says that for someone to steal them is unconscionable.

“I don’t think anyone would really condone it, but someone did it, and they shouldn’t have, and they should know better,” said Steven.
