A 9-1-1 call placed from a grandmother in Derby on Wednesday night ends in tragedy.
Authorities say 49-year-old Sharmaine Burke made the emergency call around 11:30pm on Wednesday, stating that her son-in-law was drunk and threatening to shoot her in the head. Burke identified her son-in-law as 29-year-old Stephen Rogers. She also told 9-1-1 dispatchers that Rogers’ 8-year-old son was also in the home.
Dispatchers then heard three gunshots. Deputies arrived on the scene to find Burke deceased and alone in the home. A traffic stop east of Wichita soon after located the suspect and the child…
