It’s rodeo time in Kansas: Where to catch the racin’ and ropin’ this weekend

Late summer in Kansas means it’s rodeo time, and the annual Chisholm Trail Saddle Club Rodeo runs Friday and Saturday in Clearwater.

That’s just one of several activities happening around Wichita as summer comes to an end. Here are a few other places to find fun this weekend:

Rodeo time

8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Chisholm Trail Saddle Club, 9138 S. 167th St. West, Clearwater

Yacht Rock party

7-11 p.m. Friday, Holiday Inn Wichita East, 549 S. Rock Road

Even if you don’t have a yacht, or anywhere to dock one in Kansas, you can still sail away on the sounds of yacht rock, a genre from the 1970s and 1980s that includes boat-friendly soft-rock hits by groups like the Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan. On Friday, local radio stations 97.1 BOB FM and 92.7 Classic Hits are sponsoring a Yacht Rock Celebration, which will last from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Wichita East. Tickets to the event are $20 at www.eventbrite.com. Attire is business casual.

Night at Cowboy Camp

5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 W. Museum Blvd.
