Colby accountant used clients funds to build house

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Colby accountant under federal indictment has admitted to defrauding his customers.

Quintin Flanagin, 45, of Colby, was federally indicted in Wichita in April 2024 on charges of seven counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud, two counts of false statements, and six counts of money laundering. He pleaded guilty on August 8 to one count of each charge.

The U.S. Attorney says Flanagin, a Certified Public Accountant and part-owner of a firm, was hired by the owners of Diamond M. Farms in Thomas County to provide accounting duties for the company. Flanagin managed payroll for the farms and acted as a signatory, giving him full access to their bank accounts.
