Man accused in deadly 2024 hit-and-run pleads no contest

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The man accused in the 2024 hit-and-run crash that killed Tad Doyle entered a no-contest plea.

Christopher Johnson was scheduled for a jury trial on Oct. 10. Court records show that a motions hearing was held on Tuesday to determine whether or not statements Johnson gave to law enforcement could be used at trial. During that hearing, Johnson pleaded no contest to one count of leaving the scene of an accident, severity level 6, person felony and driving under the influence.

Johnson is being held without bond until his sentencing, which is scheduled for Oct. 21. Under Kansas law, a severity level 6 person penalty carries a sentence of 17 to 46 months in prison…
