German restaurant Prost closing its original address, starting move to new space

One sure sign that German restaurant Prost will soon be operating in its cavernous new two-story space on St. Francis: The restaurant will close its original restaurant in Revolutsia, the shipping container mall at 2721 E. Central, at the end of business on Saturday.

After that, owners Austin and Manu English will begin the process of moving items from their original restaurant, which is set up in stacked shipping containers, to their much larger new spot at 134 St. Francis, which sits just to the north of Bite Me BBQ and across the street from Nortons Brewing Company.

The Englishes and their crews have been working on their new 1900s-era building for months. They’ve designed it to resemble an authentic German beer hall, and it will have brick walls, wood accents, refinished church pew seating and original wood floors.

It also will include a massive upper level with a stage that can be used for private events or Prost’s own parties. The new Prost also will also have a big outdoor beer garden just to the north of the building.

The Englishes hope to have the new restaurant open by mid-September. They have to have it open in time for their annual Oktoberfest party, which they’re planning to put on in the new space Oct. 2-4…
