WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 34-year-old man charged in connection with a fire outside the Orpheum Theatre has pleaded guilty.
Jeremy Wycoff was charged with aggravated arson and arson for the April 10 fire that began outside next to roofing materials and a crane. The roofing materials ignited, sending up flames and smoke, some of which made its way inside the historic theatre.
The building suffered only minor, superficial damage, including the slight melting of a mural on the side of the building. The theater’s iconic marquee was not damaged, and an employee inside was not seriously hurt.
Wycoff was arrested two days later. On Thursday, he pleaded guilty to both charges.
Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 21…
