Wichita man charged with murder in Old Town Labor Day shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A 21-year-old man has been charged following a deadly shooting that happened on Labor Day in Wichita’s Old Town.

Lafayette J. Washington made his first court appearance on Monday in Sedgwick County. He was charged with murder in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

On Sept. 1, Wichita police found D’Andre Rubio-Glover suffering from a gunshot wound at Douglas and Rock Island. EMS took him to the hospital, where he died a short time later. Detectives said the shooting stemmed from a fight.
