BEL AIRE, Kan. (KSNW) — The City of Bel Aire will move from temporary drought restrictions to a permanent three-day-per-week watering schedule for outdoor irrigation beginning Sunday, Sept. 15.
City officials said in a social post that the change comes as part of Bel Aire’s Municipal Water Conservation Plan, which sets long-term rules to preserve the community’s water supply. If drought conditions return, additional measures may be enforced.
‘The new normal’: Wichita approves permanent outdoor watering restrictions
Under the new plan, watering days are assigned by address:
- Homes ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) may water on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.
- Homes ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) may water on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
- No watering is allowed on Mondays.
The city also restricts watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to reduce water loss from evaporation. Residents are encouraged to irrigate only between midnight and 10 a.m. or between 6 p.m. and midnight on their designated days.
