Hotter days are ahead! It has been about 3 weeks since temperatures in Wichita warmed into the lower 90s.
Widespread 90-degree highs will be felt through Friday ahead of the next unsettled stretch that moves in this weekend. This brief visit with more summerlike and above-average temperatures will shift by Sunday.
A stray shower or thunderstorm will be possible to the west near the Colorado state line this evening. Most activity stays to the west of us.
A few more storms and showers will be added to the northwest for Friday Football Fever.
Higher chances for rain and storms appear over our western counties late Saturday.
Some of this rainfall could be heavy and promote possible flooding.
An isolated severe storm is not off the table.
The axis for storms moves into our central and eastern counties on Sunday. Any that become strong to severe will be isolated. This will shift our temps back closer to the norm into next week.
New rounds of showers and storms will target areas north and west early next week with activity reaching the Wichita Metro by Wednesday.
Highs will be mainly in the 80s although some parts of Kansas to the northwest may hold in the 70s for afternoon highs next week, depending on the extent of cloud cover and any rain development.
