Wichita looks to the future while honoring the past in aviation

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) unveiled its Advanced Air Mobility Roadmap for the state on Thursday.

It’s a market analysis and economic impact study that outlines how the state plans to integrate next-generation aviation technologies, such as drones and electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, keeping Kansas a leader in the aerospace industry.

“Essentially, they’re the next generation of aircraft that can fill difficult transportation challenges,” said Ray Seif, the director of aviation for KDOT. “Hopefully, they can be leveraged to provide access to rural Kansas, provide transportation for rural hospitals, maybe medical supplies for rural hospitals, help our firefighters. There’s a thousand uses that can be leveraged.”…
