WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Aside from areas of fog, it is a quiet start to the day, but that will soon change as a cold front moves across Kansas later today. Until then, expect a mix of sun and clouds along with highs in the lower to middle 80s this afternoon.
A line of storms will form over northwest Kansas by late afternoon, and then move southeast arriving in the Wichita area after 10 p.m. Some of the storms will be severe producing large hail and damaging wind gusts this evening before it morphs into a heavy rain event tonight into Tuesday morning.
The storm system is forecast to stall over the area as it gets cut-off from the (main flow) of the jet stream. Clouds tomorrow and Wednesday will keep temperatures on the cool side with highs mainly in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Some passing rain showers are possible, if not likely but nothing heavy or severe is expected…
