Child arrested in Wichita after voicemail causes brief shutdown at Kansas airport

A child was arrested Friday in Wichita for a bomb threat that briefly closed down the Hutchinson Regional Airport, according to the Hutchinson police.

The child was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal threat after leaving a voicemail at the airport around 11 p.m. on Thursday indicating “a bomb had been attached to an airplane at the airport,” police said Friday night in a news release. The voice was “consistent with that of a juvenile male,” police said.

Police contacted the child and his parents in Wichita and brought the child back to the Reno County Youth Shelter…
