EL DORADO, Kan. (KSNW) — A Rose Hill man, who, along with his wife, was charged in connection with the death of their adopted daughter, Kennedy Schroer, has entered a no contest plea.
A status conference hearing was held on Tuesday in Butler County District Court. The conference was held one week before his jury trial was set to begin on charges of two counts of aggravated endangering a child, making false information, Medicaid fraud, and interference with law enforcement.
Joseph Schroer instead pleaded no contest to two counts of aggravated endangering a child, while the other counts were dismissed. Sentencing is set for Dec. 3.
In August, his wife, Crystina Schroer, pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of second-degree murder, child abuse, making false information, and theft of more than $15,000 but less than $25,000. Her sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 10…
