Spirit Aerosystems promises to hire additional 600 workers by end of 2025

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Spirit Aerosystems has promised to hire an additional 600 workers by the end of the year, which could mean a boost to the local economy.

Bekah Selby-Leach, Director of Wichita State’s Center for Economic Development and Business Research, said that over the last several years, the aerospace industry has been on shaky ground. She said that Spirit’s commitment to hiring is a good step forward.

“The aerospace industry has been needing to expand its workforce for some time. There’s a lot of unmet demand,” Selby-Leach said. “It is a good sign that they’re starting to hire, and it is a good sign that this is likely a trend that will continue and that they are moving in that direction. We’ve seen a lot of movement with Boeing and Spirit so we’re hopeful that this is a good sign.”…
