We the People: The history of a WWI-era El Dorado oilfield

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Next year will mark the 250th birthday for the United States.

Over the next several months, we’re celebrating our nation’s past, including historical moments in Kansas.

Just north of Wichita you can find the El Dorado oilfield, which produced so much oil that it was dubbed the Oilfield that Won WWI. Although the boom town that inhabited the area have all but disappeared, the El Dorado oilfield still holds a vast amount of Kansas history…
