Emporia car chase results in the arrest of a Wichita man

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) – A 38-year-old man was arrested following a pursuit that began after he left an Emporia Dollar General, officials said.

According to the Emporia Police Dept. (EPD), it was contacted by the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) to locate a suspected intoxicated driver, later identified as Brandon E. Mangus, 38, of Wichita, who was driving a white Chevy Tahoe with temporary tags.

Authorities stated in an announcement that the Chevy Tahoe was discovered at the Dollar General store at 1202 E. 12th Ave., Emporia. Officials said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop as the vehicle left the business, but Mangus allegedly refused to comply.

A pursuit ensued through the northeast and east-central areas of Emporia, continuing north on Highway 99 into Lyon Co. The chase was brought to an end after the Lyon Co. Sheriff’s Office successfully deployed stop sticks, deflating all four tires of the suspect’s vehicle. Authorities stated that the pursuit’s end was done safely…
