WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Police say it was a targeted shooting that took a man’s life Thursday at Doctor Glen Dey Park. The community continues to grieve following the deadly shooting. Friends, family and community members came together to honor Stewart and find healing in the wake of the tragedy.
Police say Travon Stewart was selling concessions as a fundraiser that was not connected to the Wichita Junior Football League, which was hosting a game in the park at the time. There were 200 to 300 people in the park when Stewart was shot.
Held at Wichita Habitat for Humanity, people gathered for an emotional night of dialogue. This open discussion included licensed mental health professionals and gun violence advocates. Organizers say the big takeaway is to remind the community that they are not alone…
