Chaos and Confusion: The Decline of Sedgwick County’s Tag Offices

Recent changes in the operation of Sedgwick County’s tag offices have sparked a wave of online criticism. Two years ago, the Qless system was praised for its efficiency, allowing users to check in online and complete their transactions within 10 minutes. However, recent changes have led to a more convoluted process. Now, users must arrive an unreasonable amount of time before opening, ignore signs and join an information line to “check in”, wait for the offices to open at 8am, and then stand in line according to the order they signed in. This process has been described as chaotic, with one woman having to shout instructions to a room of 100 people. Despite these changes, users are still told they can use a text message received when checking in to save their spot in line and that they don’t have to stay in the building.
