Man shot by Wichita police sentenced for assault of officer

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita man who was shot after he pointed a gun at Wichita police was sentenced Friday to one year in prison.

Jonathan Belt, 44, pleaded guilty in September to one count of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer.

The assault happened on North Wood Avenue, near 13th Street and Tyler Road, around 11:30 p.m. on May 13, 2024.
