Change in HUD grant funding could increase homelessness in Wichita

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Planned policy changes in Washington could affect those who are unhoused in the Air Capital.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development announced it’s changing how its funding helps homeless people get housing.

HUD is expected to increase Continuum of Care funding from $3.6 billion to $3.9 billion in 2026, but how it’s allocated has some homeless advocates in Wichita concerned that the move could lead to more homelessness.
