Wichita airport prepares for winter weather with its Snow Rodeo event

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — With winter right around the corner, Wichita Eisenhower National Airport is making sure it’s prepared for winter weather.

The airport had its crews on the tarmac Tuesday for its annual Snow Rodeo. The event gives workers the chance to test the snow removal equipment to make sure it’s up to par for the harsh Kansas winters.

“So, for a full snow event, we prepare several hours in advance upon showing up,” Rachel Mayberry, marketing manager at the airport, said. “We are here through the entire snow event, and typically we are still cleaning runways for another 24 hours after the snow has fallen.”
