Rain & wintry mix likely for Saturday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – We are kicking off Thanksgiving cold and quiet, but later today under mostly sunny skies, temperatures will be near normal in the low 50s. Winds will remain light throughout the day. Friday will follow suit with highs in the 50s with mostly cloudy skies. Winds will become breezy with gusts up to 35 mph.

Heading into the weekend, a storm system will impact the state. Showers will develop across central and eastern Kansas late Friday night and into Saturday morning. Showers will transition to a rain/snow mix late morning in north central Kansas; Wichita will mostly see rain. Minimal snowfall is expected as ground temperatures will be too warm. Elevated surfaces could become slick as temperatures fall in the evening.

Temperatures will fall throughout the day on Saturday, with numbers in the 30s by the late afternoon. With north wind gusts of 40-50 mph, it will feel much colder.
