Rain and wintry mix on Saturday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Enjoy the decent weather while it lasts because winter makes a return this weekend. It is a cold but quiet start to the day with wakeup temperatures in the 20s and 30s. Expect similar highs to yesterday in the upper 40s to low 50s. Winds will be breezy today, gusting up to 35 mph.

Late tonight across northern and eastern Kansas, scattered showers will begin to develop ahead of our storm system. By Saturday morning, rain will begin to transition to a rain/snow mix across northern Kansas and gradually move east. Areas south of I-70 will mostly see rain. Rain and winter mix will exit the area by the early afternoon.

Snow accumulations will be little to none due to warmer ground temperatures. The best chance for minor snow accumulations will be across northern Kansas, where amounts will likely be under an inch. There could be some slick spots on elevated surfaces, and gusts of 40-50 mph could lead to blowing snow and reduce visibility…
