Major weather changes arrive today

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Meteorologist Jake Dunne says a powerful cold front is moving across the state. While the big weather story with the system will be gusty winds and falling temperatures, areas of rain, snow, and slick roads – mainly along and north of I-70 – are expected this morning. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s will feel like the teens when you factor in gusty north winds between 25 and 35 mph.

The strong and gusty winds will go away tonight, but the cold isn’t going anywhere. Wake-up temperatures in the teens and lower 20s will feel like the single digits, both above and below zero when you factor in the light breeze. Tomorrow afternoon will follow suit with highs in the lower 30s, or twenty degrees below normal.

Another fast-moving, relatively weak weather maker will sweep across the state on Monday. While light snow showers are likely, little if any accumulation is expected. However, even colder temperatures will accompany the storm system and most of the state won’t make it to the freezing mark during the day…
