Storm Track 3 Forecast: Snow stays north this morning, fierce winds drop temps

A strong storm system is moving across Kansas this morning, bringing rain that is trying to change over to snow in northern Kansas.

There will be a brief opportunity for snow mainly north of I-70 this morning, but moisture will move out just as temperatures fall enough to switch over.

Little to no accumulation is expected, with snow amounts generally under an inch.

What everyone will notice today is the wind! Howling northwest winds will make being outdoors particularly unpleasant as temperatures drop through the day. Wind gusts could reach up to 50 MPH at times today.

A Wind Advisory is in effect through 6 PM.

Temperatures will be in a freefall through tonight. Many locations have already hit their daily highs this morning.

Teens and twenties for lows in most places. A couple of spots to the northwest could see single digit lows.

Sunday will be a cold day in Kansas, but we keep dry with less wind. Clouds gather through the day, with a gray finish.

Another storm system heads our way on Monday. Temperatures are expected to be cold enough for this to come as all snow.

Some accumulation will be possible since the ground will be much colder by this time.

The rest of the week will be quieter, with temperatures attempting to climb toward normal.
