Rose Hill man sentenced to probation in connection with adoptive daughter’s death

EL DORADO, Kan. (KWCH) – A Rose Hill man faces four years’ probation in connection with the death of his 6-year-old adoptive daughter, whose remains were found buried in the backyard of her home, a few years after she died.

A Butler County District Court judge sentenced Joseph Schroer to 48 months of probation with an underlying prison sentence of 14 months, meaning that if Schroer violates the term of his probation, he’ll face a little more than a year in prison.

In October, he pleaded “no contest” to two counts of aggravated endangering a child and Medicaid fraud. The Medicaid fraud charge was the crime connected with the death of his adopted daughter, Natalie Marie Garcia, also know by her adoptive name, Kennedy Jean Schroer.
