The end of an era for dim sum fans in Wichita is near.
After nearly 35 years in business at 822 S. Broadway, Tom’s Lotus Garden will close in late January, when the building and its contents will be auctioned.
Lorraine Choi of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Penfed Realty, one of the listing agents on the building, said that the restaurant’s namesake and longtime chef, Tom Tam, died earlier this year. His widow, Mui Fong Yu Tam, has been running the restaurant with the help of her nephew but has decided she’s ready to sell.
Tom’s Lotus Garden, though, will stay open until the sale is complete, Choi said. It serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and a dim sum brunch from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays…
