WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Sedgwick county District Attorney Marc Bennett is sounding the alarm on a nationwide problem highlighted in a recent report from the United States Department of Justice.
Specifically, Bennett urges residents to be vigilant against financial scams targeting seniors. This follows the DOJ report that the Sedgwick County DA’s office describes as “startling.”
In the 2025 Annual Report to Congress on Department of Justice Activities to Combat Elder Fraud and Abuse, the Justice Department said that “thieves attempted to steal or succeeded in stealing more than $2 billion from over 1 million older Americans during the reporting period.”…
