Downtown coffee shop open for a year will close later this month

A downtown coffee shop that has been open for about a year is planning to close.

Late last week, Cofellow Coffee Parlor owner Jeremy Weldon shared the news on social media that Dec. 27 would be the shop’s last day on the ground floor of The National, a luxury apartment and office space in the former Commerce Bank Building at 150 N. Main.

Weldon, whose original Cofelllow Coffee opened in Goddard in May 2023, did not return a message about the announcement. But in the Facebook post he shared on Thursday, he said that he wanted to focus more on his original shop and the one he opened in the lobby of Vima Church, 2120 N. Woodlawn, in September.

“When we opened Goddard, we could’ve never imagined — or even dreamed — of having multiple locations,” the post read. “Yet here we are, having opened two locations within nine months this past year. As Cofellow grows, we want to steward our current responsibilities well.”…
