Wichita joins national tribute to fallen soldiers with wreath-laying event

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita is one of over 5,000 U.S. locations honoring fallen soldiers this Saturday by laying wreaths on their graves.

The Wreaths Across America initiative began with soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, quickly evolving into a yearly tradition across the U.S.

Organizers like Steve Hamlin, say the event not only honors the soldiers, but provides a moment of reflection for the entire county.

“It’s been growing every year, I think the response this year seems to be pretty good, and everybody seems to really appreciate that this happens and that we do this, and I think this goes very well,” Hamlin said. “I think it’s to teach, you know, teaching the younger people what sacrifice is and how we can honor them, really, I think means something to them.”…
