WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Wichita City Council on Tuesday will hear more on the plan to turn part of Douglas Avenue into a three-lane street instead of a four-lane street.
A District Advisory Board on Dec. 1 recommended a three-lane road option between Washington and Grove streets with on-street bicycle lanes and parallel parking on both sides of the street.
According to city documents, the plan has been in the works since at least 2019.

“This is not my plan, and this is something that will be presented to the council on Tuesday for a vote,” Mayor Lily Wu said Monday. “I’ve heard our community clearly that they do not want a road diet, but I am willing to address the concerns from residents by listening more and also hearing the feedback from staff regarding this plan.”…
