WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A week after Sedgwick County filed a theft report against an online auction company for more than $1 million, the county commission took further action, approving funding to reimburse the district court while pursing recovery of the funds.
The county hired third-party company CivicSource to auction foreclosed properties when property owners don’t pay taxes. The county says CivicSource owes about $1.3 million from the sale of those properties.
The money is supposed to go to the district court, which holds the funds and pays any party who is owed. Because that money isn’t available, the commission is stepping in to fund the courts…
