The clouds mixed out of Southcentral and Eastern Kansas, aided by gustier winds, today. Sunshine helped to heat us up with a southerly wind — and this is just the beginning this week!
Overnight, as temps cool, patchy fog will form along and east of the Turnpike from Wichita to Emporia and Topeka into Tuesday morning.
Lows will be in the 30s with more 40s to the southeast where more fog formation is possible.
Afternoon temperatures this week will keep hitting the high notes. High pressure situated to our south will enable records to be broken in parts of Kansas through Christmas.
There is a weak wind shift on Tuesday. Highs in the upper 50s near the Nebraska state line, sixties for most of our viewing area and the 70s along the Oklahoma state line will be obtainable.
We will have more cloud cover Tuesday night and through a portion of Wednesday from central into eastern Kansas.
More records could fall on Christmas Eve for the warmth with widespread broken records on Christmas.
A stronger front dips south on Friday to yank us back several degrees. It will still be well above average. Another front tracks south with gusty winds by Sunday. It may attempt to squeeze out a sprinkle or a shower near and south of the Kansas/Oklahoma state line, but moisture is slim.
Trends keep pointing to the January 3-5 timeframe for a shot of moisture in parts of Kansas. Track and temperatures will be important factors to consider once we get closer as it is still a long way out.
