WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – A man is in jail after an hours-long standoff Monday night in north Wichita.
Around 6:30 p.m. Monday, a woman called 911 after returning to her house and finding her ex‑boyfriend inside. Police say she told him to leave, but he walked to the kitchen and grabbed a knife. They say he threatened her and allegedly said he would kill police officers if they responded. The woman grabbed her three‑month‑old child and left the home.
After speaking with the woman, officers called in SWAT and crisis negotiation teams. The standoff continued for several hours before the suspect ran out the back of the house shortly before midnight.
