CHENEY, Kan. (KWCH) – More than 500 people gathered at Cheney State Park on Thursday to start the new year exploring the outdoors as part of the annual First Day Hikes tradition.
The park was one of 24 Kansas state parks participating in the event that gets people of all ages outside to kick off 2026. By 2 p.m., hundreds had shown up to hike the five-mile trail.
