WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Local law enforcement agencies have shared their preliminary numbers from New Year’s Eve patrols.
From 6 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office documented 43 incidents, including calls for service, traffic stops, business checks, driving complaints, fireworks complaints, agency assists and crashes.
Traffic-related incidents:
- Traffic Stops: 11
- DUI Arrests: 0
- Crashes: 2
- 1 noninjury
- 1 minor injury
- Total Arrests: 4
- 1 drug violation arrest
- 2 other arrests
- 1 juvenile arrest
The sheriff’s office also reported an illegal discharge of a firearm in the Oaklawn area.

In Wichita, police conducted a DUI assignment overnight, reporting the following:

- DUI Investigations: 4
- Citations: 9
- Stops: 14
“This does not capture all stops or arrests across our 166-square-mile jurisdiction or our population of 400,991 people,” WPD said on Thursday. “Our crime analysis staff will pull arrest numbers on Friday.”…
