Wichita church packs 100,000 meals for local and international distribution

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Risen Savior Lutheran Church packed 100,000 meals through its outreach program, with half going to Haiti and the other half distributed locally through the Wichita food bank.

“We packed 100,000 meals with the outreach program, and 50,000 of those meals went to Haiti, and then 50,000 of those meals went to The food bank here in Wichita to be distributed to the area,” said Laurie Casey, director of outreach, community care and caring ministry service at Risen Savior.

The meal packing represents one of many outreach programs at the church. Casey said the church also serves Gammon Elementary School, a nearby apartment complex and the Crossover Recovery Center in downtown Wichita…
