Strong storms to snow Thursday & Friday

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a mostly clear and seasonably cold start to the day with wake-up temperatures in the 20s and 30s. However, we will see above average highs in the lower to middle 60s later today as mostly sunny skies turn partly cloudy.

The first of two storm systems to impact the state arrives tonight and will last through midday Thursday. With relatively mild air in place, this one will bring rain and thunder to central and eastern Kansas. The best odds of seeing up to an inch of rainfall, and some small hail will be along and east of I-135 with lighter amounts expected farther west.

A second storm system is forecast to move across Kansas on Friday. This one will have colder air to work with so both rain and snow are possible, if not likely. While little to no accumulation is expected in the Wichita area, light accumulation is possible along and north/west of a Dodge City to Salina line. Wet and slushy roads during the day may turn icy after sunset as temps fall below freezing…
