Malnourished horses seized in Cowley County recovering at rescue facilities

VALLEY CENTER, Kan. (KWCH) – Nearly 35 horses seized by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office in September after being found sick and starving are recovering at two rescue facilities.

For months, Hope in the Valley in Valley Center and Bluestem Equine in Atlanta, Kansas have been rehabilitating the animals. Those caring for the rescued horses say they are regaining their health.

“You would never imagine you were looking at the same little babies,” said Ande Armstrong, founder of Hope in the Valley Equine Rescue & Sanctuary.
